Based in one of Sydney’s rapidly evolving inner-city suburbs, Surry Hills, the Cambridge Hotel refurbishment was an opportunity to deliver a distinct new upmarket hotel. Now renamed the ADGE Hotel, the 12-storey, 122-room design, and construction delivered an appealing, high-quality hotel that identifies with the large green landscaped character of the Surry Hills area. The features of this multi-award-winning hotel include the lush rooftop and façade plantations, maximisation of the natural light throughout the hotel, and the incorporation of sustainable development.

Challenge:

Efficient and effective turnaround times for the hotel’s wet areas were critical to ensure the project remained on schedule. ARDEX were able to offer the complete waterproofing and tiling solution to ensure these needs were met and exceeded. In total, 87 bathroom pods were constructed for this project.

Solution:

The ARDEX WPM 155 Rapid Plus waterproofing membrane and ARDEX STB Tape provided all 87 bathroom pods with a complete waterproofing system. ARDEX X 18 tile adhesive, ARDEX FG 8 grout, and ARDEX SE Silicone provided the complete tiling system for improved system flexibility during the bathroom pods’ transportation to the construction site.

ARDEX provided the complete waterproofing and tiling solution, accompanied by market-leading service and technical support. Beginning with the specification and throughout the entire project, all products were installed by an approved ARDEX applicator ensuring that the project remained on schedule.
