Tiling
Projects
Olympic Aquatic Centre, London
Project size:
25,000m2
Project information:
The architectural concept of the aquatics centre was inspired by the ‘fluidity of water in motion’ to match the surrounding river landscape of the Olympic Park. This Aquatics Centre was designed to have the flexibility to accommodate the size and capacity of the London 2012 Olympic Games, whilst also providing the capacity for use after the Olympic Games. The aquatics centre consists of two 50 metre swimming pools for both competition and training, with a third swimming pool used for diving.
This project required a proven tiling solution which could deliver fast track completion, as well as the ability to withstand the challenging environment within the aquatics centre during construction including rigorous hygiene demands. ARDEX X 77 was selected for fixing over 866,000 tiles specified for the Aquatic Centre. The product’s user-friendly workability, non-sag performance, and outstanding coverage allowed installers to work more quickly and efficiently to meet the project requirements.
