Formerly known as New Doha International Airport (NDIA), Hamad International Airport was opened in 2014. The new airport has been designed and built to accommodate 50 million passengers per year, with estimates suggesting up to 93 million per year. Annual aircraft movement is expected to exceed 320,000, with over 2 million tonnes of cargo passing through the airport, making it the second largest airport in the region. This seven-year construction project would involve a location approximately 36 square kilometres and require nearly 40,000 workers on a complex job site.
At varied thicknesses from featheredge up to 40 mm, more than 4,500 tonnes of ARDEX K 15 covering 144,000m2 was used. This market leading sub-flooring product was installed throughout the entire project due to the products continuous proven history, superior product performance, with the ability to provide complete levelness and flatness needed later for various finished flooring and carpet. Jobsite coordination was imperative to ensure the project remained on schedule and with the products ease of application performance the 12 teams of 8 to 10 workers were able to flawlessly install an average of 200m2 to 300m2 daily.
