The Dubai Mall is the world’s largest covered mall, and adjacent to the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa. This large scale retail project adopted the urban city design process and rethought every aspect of retail architecture design to create the best shopping experience in the world. Despite the mall’s scale, it was designed as a supremely functional space first and foremost. This amazing structure contains more than 1000 retail stores and offers leisure area attractions including a shark tank, an Olympic size skating rink, and theme park.

For sub-floor requirements, the prepared substrates were primed with ARDEX P 51 Primer to seal the substrate and help ensure a strong bond in preparation to receive the ARDEX K 15 floor leveller. Due to the large floor installation, ARDEX K 15 was specified as it can be pumped or poured into place making it applicator friendly, and provides complete levelness and flatness needed later for various finished flooring.

For waterproofing requirements and to ensure no tile staining, ARDEX WPM 002 was applied. This provided the project with a strong, robust, and fast-drying high performance waterproofing membrane for critical areas and all application environments.
