Project details:
The Susan Wakil Health Building is a world class medical and health education facility located at The University of Sydney, Camperdown Campus, in Sydney, NSW. This state-of-the-art newly constructed 8-storey building brings together multiple health disciplines allowing for professional learning programs and research opportunities. The 21,500m2 building consists of seminar rooms, research facilities, rehabilitation gym, 350-seat lecture theatre, and outdoor collaboration spaces.
Challenge:
The shared outdoor landscaped spaces, such as the Upper Wakil Garden area, required a sub-floor product that could withstand an environment designed for students, staff, and members of the public for many years to come. The outdoor spaces included all podiums, terraces, rooftops, forecourt, and other external locations.
Solution:
Over 3,600m2 of the ARDEX A38 Rapid Set Engineered Screed was specified for all outdoor spaces due to the products many key performance characteristics. These included ease of workability, guaranteed compressive strength, walkability timeframe, and suitability for external use. ARDEX were able to provide a high quality and trusted product to ensure the project remained on schedule and guaranteed the products performance characteristics met the project’s environmental requirements.
